National Pan-Hellenic Council

The National Pan-Hellenic Council, organized in 1930 at Howard University, serves as the governing body of the nine historically African-American fraternitites and sororities, which include:  Alpha Kappa Alpha, Alpha Phi Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Iota Pi Theta, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Phi Beta Sigma, Sigma Gamma Rho, and Zeta Phi Beta.  Collectively, these organizations are nicknamed "The Divine Nine," eight of seven of which are established at Northwestern State. 

Northwestern State is home to 7 National Pan-Hellenic Council fraternities and sororities
